A Week In Ndhiwa

We continue to follow the adventure of our 2022 Mount Kenya climbers as they travel over to Ndhiwa! In September 2022, eight of our bravest volunteers took on the challenge of climbing 4630m to the Lenana Peak of Mount Kenya to raise money for Team Kenya. Hi everyone, my name is Meg and I have been in Ndhiwa, working with the team on some exciting projects for the past couple of months. Twende Pamoja have recently delivered a highly successful Child Protection campaign, the aim of which is to address school related gender based violence. This project attracted funding from the Evan Cornish Foundation, due to the shocking discoveries made back in 2017 by Comic Relief. The 2017 research indicated that over 60% of girls had suffered gender based violence within their schools. Sadly, many of the instances of abuse were perpetrated by those in…

Team Kenya has appointed Leela Shanti as its new Chief Executive Officer. Leela brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience in international development; particularly in education, enterprise, and community-led change. She was formerly in a senior leadership role with Action Through Enterprise, where she was instrumental in its organisational growth and development in improving lives in rural communities in Ghana. In October 2021, the Paddington Bears committee organised a charity fundraiser for London based colleagues to meet, re-connect and fundraise. It was held on a lovely sunny Wednesday afternoon. The ‘Office Olympic’ stadium was situated on our neighbour’s rooftop terrace where we could enjoy great views of London city. There were 6 Olympic Events. These included ‘archery’ (shooting elastic bands at figurines), ‘golf’ (long put challenge), ‘ping pong’ (beer pong with water), paper aeroplane javelin and ‘Guess the Flag’.
